Raceland, Louisiana – Two Fatal Crashes in Raceland Claim Lives of Local Residents

Authorities have reported two deadly crashes in Raceland, Louisiana, on June 13, 2025, that resulted in the deaths of local residents. The Louisiana State Police Troop C has initiated investigations into both incidents, which took place just hours apart.

First Fatal Crash Involving a Vehicle Collision

The first crash occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 182 and 307. In this incident, 65-year-old Stephen Armand of Grand Isle was a passenger in a Chrysler Voyager that was struck by a Ford F-150.

According to preliminary findings, the Ford was traveling west on LA Hwy 182 behind another vehicle when it approached the intersection with LA Hwy 307. The Chrysler Voyager was stopped at a stop sign, preparing to turn left onto LA Hwy 182. As the vehicle in front of the Ford turned right onto LA Hwy 307, the Ford attempted to pass it while entering the intersection. At that moment, the Chrysler Voyager made its left turn onto LA Hwy 182 and was struck on the left side.

While the driver of the Ford F-150 was not wearing a seatbelt, they emerged from the crash without injuries. Both Armand and the driver of the Chrysler Voyager were wearing seatbelts and were promptly transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, Armand later succumbed to his injuries, marking this incident as a fatal crash. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this accident is ongoing.

Second Fatal Crash Involving a Pedestrian

Shortly after the first incident, at around 3:00 p.m., another crash was reported about four miles south of Louisiana Highway 3090 on Louisiana Highway 1. This second crash resulted in the death of 69-year-old David Glenn from Magnolia, Texas.

Initial reports indicate that Glenn was on the southbound shoulder of LA Hwy 1 when a Ford F-250 towing a boat trailer was traveling in the same direction. A wheel detached from the axle of the trailer and veered off the roadway, striking Glenn. Although he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The investigation into this pedestrian-related incident is also ongoing, with authorities examining the circumstances that led to this tragic event.

Background Context on Traffic Safety in Louisiana

These recent tragedies highlight ongoing concerns regarding traffic safety in Louisiana, where accidents involving vehicles and pedestrians remain a significant issue. Compliance with safety regulations, including seatbelt usage, is critical in reducing fatalities on the road. According to Louisiana State Police, many accidents can be prevented with adherence to traffic laws and proper vehicle maintenance.

As both investigations continue, local residents and authorities are reminding the public to exercise caution while traveling on Louisiana roadways, and to remain aware of their surroundings to help prevent further incidents.

The summary of these heartbreaking events serves as a reminder of the importance of traffic safety and vigilance on the roads. As the investigations unfold, further updates may provide clarity on the contributing factors to these tragic losses of life.
