A 17-year-old named Jayden Mark was arrested in connection with a shooting that injured five people during the French Quarter Fest in New Orleans. Identified as one of three alleged shooters, Mark was apprehended after leading police on a chase in a stolen vehicle. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated battery and drug offenses, with his bond set at $357,000. Another suspect, Christopher Parker, was also arrested shortly after the incident. All injured individuals are in stable condition, and police continue to investigate the matter.
New Orleans – A 17-year-old, identified as Jayden Mark, fue arrested days after being linked to a shooting that occurred in the French Quarter, wounding five individuals during a popular local event. The incident took place on April 13, 2025, at approximately 8:25 p.m. at the intersection of Iberville and Decatur streets, coinciding with the conclusion of the French Quarter Fest.
Following the shooting, Mark reportedly flagged down police officers in the area, indicating that his partner had been shot. He led authorities to the injured individual before fleeing the scene without being detained at that moment. Video evidence later revealed Mark wearing a mask and discarding a Glock 43 firearm near the U.S. Custom House as he left the area.
Police compiled evidence leading to Mark’s identification as one of the individuals involved in the shooting that included at least three alleged shooters. A warrant for Mark’s arrest was issued by Magistrate Commissioner Joyce Sallah on April 15, two days after the incident.
On April 25, members of the Violent Crime Abatement Investigation Team attempted to apprehend Mark, who was behind the wheel of a stolen Toyota Camry. Mark fled from the traffic stop, driving erratically and colliding with a marked unit of the Louisiana State Police. After a pursuit, he was arrested, with authorities recovering firearms that he reportedly discarded off the Danziger Bridge during the chase.
Mark faces a total of 20 charges, including five counts of aggravated second-degree battery in connection with the shooting incident, in addition to various drug offenses, gun-related charges, and theft. He is currently being held at the Orleans Justice Center on a bond set at $357,000.
Further developments in the case include the immediate arrest of another individual, 25-year-old Christopher Parker, who was captured shortly after the shooting following a brief foot chase. Parker is accused of firing into the crowd during the incident and was found in possession of a firearm that was still warm, suggesting it had been recently used. He too faces significant charges, including aggravated second-degree battery and illegal use of weapons.
All individuals injured during the shooting have been reported to be in stable condition, minimizing initial fears of a more serious outcome. The New Orleans Police Department continues to investigate the shooting, urging anyone with additional information related to the incident to step forward and assist in the ongoing inquiry.
The events leading up to this violent altercation have raised concerns among the community regarding public safety, particularly during major events that draw large crowds in the French Quarter. As the investigation progresses, law enforcement is also looking into connections between the suspects and any gang-related activities that may have contributed to the shooting.
