Law enforcement agents carrying out a police raid related to a high-profile escape case in New Orleans.
Antoine Massey, a suspected escapee from a New Orleans jail, has posted videos on social media claiming his innocence and seeking help. The videos led law enforcement to raid a location but did not find him. Massey, who escaped with nine others, is facing serious charges including rape and kidnapping. Authorities are intensifying efforts to locate him, while offering a reward for information leading to his capture.
New Orleans – Antoine Massey, a suspected escapee from a New Orleans jail, has released videos on social media pleading for assistance and asserting his innocence amidst ongoing investigations into his involvement in serious criminal charges. The videos were uploaded to Massey’s Instagram account “@_007chucky” and garnered enough attention for local law enforcement to execute a police raid on a home late Monday evening, where they believed the videos were recorded.
During the raid, authorities did not locate Massey, who remains at large, but did uncover clothing believed to match that worn by him in the video. Although the New Orleans Police Department did not confirm the authenticity of the videos, the man depicted has facial tattoos that match Massey’s known descriptions. The videos, which have since been removed from Instagram, featured Massey appealing for help from prominent figures such as President Trump and rapper Lil Wayne, while claiming he was wrongfully accused of multiple crimes.
This social media activity has intensified police efforts to recapture Massey, who escaped from the Orleans Justice Center on May 16, 2024, along with nine other inmates. Since their escape, eight of those inmates have been captured, leaving Massey and Derrick Groves still at large. In response to the situation, law enforcement has announced a reward of $50,000 for any information leading to the capture of either fugitive.
Massey, who is now 32 years old, faces a series of serious charges involving rape, kidnapping, and domestic violence stemming from a November 2023 incident. The woman involved in the case, who had previously obtained a protective order against him due to earlier abuse, is also wanted for charges related to aiding Massey’s escape. In the videos, Massey claimed he was “let out” of jail rather than escaping and disputed allegations that he threatened jail staff during the escape.
The authorities’ investigation began when relatives of Massey recognized the residence featured in the videos, prompting law enforcement to act swiftly. However, the absence of Massey at the scene has led to further scrutiny of the video’s content and the claims he made within them. Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson has urged Massey to return voluntarily, suggesting that cooperation might minimize the legal consequences he faces.
Despite his attempts to maintain his innocence through these online appeals, Massey has a documented history of escaping from correctional facilities and has faced multiple charges related to domestic violence in previous cases. The escape operation at the Orleans Justice Center was facilitated by inmates tampering with a cell door and using blankets to climb over a barbed wire fence, showcasing the need for re-evaluating the security measures at the facility.
Authorities are continuing their investigations into the released videos while also actively pursuing Massey and Groves. The ongoing efforts to recapture the escapees highlight the challenges faced by law enforcement in managing and securing high-risk inmates within the penal system.
As the situation develops, the community remains alert, and law enforcement urges anyone with information about Massey’s whereabouts to come forward. The unfolding drama around this case continues to draw attention as authorities aim to put an end to this high-profile escape and restore safety to the New Orleans community.
