The Vicious Ryderz MC will kick off its 3rd Annual Back-to-School Giveaway on Saturday, July 19, starting at 11 a.m. The event will take place at 15561 River Road, Hahnville, and will feature free backpacks for children, as well as food, music, and community fun. It’s important for attendees to note that backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and that each child must be present with an adult to receive their backpack.

Also on July 19, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church is set to host an event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1807 Rev. John Raphael Jr. Way. This gathering will include a panel discussion with school officials, one-on-one counseling opportunities for families, and giveaways that feature Chromebook tablets and uniform vouchers to further support students and their academic needs.

On July 26, McDonogh 35 Senior High School will conduct a drive-thru giveaway from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 4000 Cadillac Street, where more than 1,000 backpacks and 50,000 school supplies will be distributed. This event will also include additional resources for families such as gas cards and haircut vouchers.

Another giveaway on July 26 will occur at 12000 Hayne Blvd in New Orleans East from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. This event will offer free backpacks along with food, games, and vision/hearing screenings, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Families may also participate in an event at the Joe W. Brown Park Recreation Center, which is planned for the same day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This program will assist children in grades K-6 with free school supplies and tools necessary for the school year; registration is required for participation.

Additionally, a health and wellness fair is scheduled for Friday, August 1, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Treme Recreation Center. This event will provide immunizations, sports physicals, and free haircuts, along with school supplies, food, and games for children aged 6 months to 18 years.

On Saturday, August 9, a community back-to-school celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3815 St. Bernard Ave. This event promises to distribute free laptops, over 2,000 backpacks, and school supplies, accompanied by live entertainment and a resource fair to further engage families.

As part of the ongoing support for families, Entergy New Orleans is partnering for a giveaway on July 26 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Pelican Park, providing free school supplies alongside games and energy-saving tools for households. The Children’s Museum of St. Tammany is also contributing to the effort with an Educational Expo and free supply giveaway at Pelican Park on the same day, featuring vendors, haircuts, and performances while the first 300 students will receive backpacks.

These community-focused events will continue through August, incorporating various activities such as face painting, games, and other resources aimed at fostering a successful academic year for students in New Orleans.
