June Heymann was known for her steadfast dedication to her family, raising her four children with endless love and nurturing. In a testament to her caring nature, she took in her four grandchildren when her daughter faced struggles with addiction, stepping into the role of caregiver and mother figure. Many have described her as the heart of her family, always embodying compassion and kindness.

Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family; she provided care for her own mother until her passing and opened her home to two elderly friends who were alone and in need, ensuring they received warmth and dignity in her care. June’s generosity continued as she aided her son’s family, caring for his two daughters while he worked. Additionally, she devoted time to assist in caring for her great-granddaughter. June’s home was known for its welcoming atmosphere, as she never allowed anyone to leave without a meal, famously offering her legendary cooking and sweet tea.

In addition to her family commitments, June had a remarkable career as a secretary for the Commissioner of Immigration and Naturalization, where she dedicated 26 years of service. Her colleagues admired her strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail, contributing to the smooth operation of the office. Throughout her life, June’s actions reflected her unwavering faith and commitment to her community, notably as a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Christopher Church for over fifty years.

June is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Wallin and Raymond Hays Sr.; her daughter, Donna Heymann; her son, Greg Heymann; her sister, Irma Jacoby; her brothers, Raymond “Sonny” Hays Jr. and Jack Hays; and her great-grandson, Lawson Jules Scharwath. She is survived by her sons, Jules Heymann (Maria) and Many Heymann; her grandchildren, including Wendi Scharwath, Toddy Hebert Jr., Ramon Urbina (Kelli), Greg Heymann (Kallie), Tina Boone, Mandy Heymann, Jessica Heymann (Chris), Vincent Heymann, and Many Heymann (Bridget); as well as her great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Finn, Rowen, Landon, Parker, Mason, Bailey, Hannah, Meagan, Gerard, Many Jr., Evelyn, and Amber.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Kallie Pugh for the exceptional care and love she provided to June in the past ten years, emphasizing the importance of communal support in times of need.

Visitation services for June Heymann will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, starting at 11:00 AM. A Mass will follow at 1:00 PM, leading into a graveside service in All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery. The community is invited to come together to celebrate the rich life June lived, reinforcing the love she shared with everyone she encountered.

June’s life was marked by pure devotion to family, faith, and kindness. Her legacy of love will continue to resonate through the lives she touched, ensuring that her spirit remains a guiding force for those who carry her memory forward.
