Southeast Louisiana is set to celebrate Independence Day with an exciting lineup of fireworks shows and community events across multiple parishes. From June 30 to July 4, residents and visitors can enjoy various celebrations highlighting local culture, entertainment, and of course, dazzling fireworks displays.
Festivities begin on Saturday, July 1, with the Slidell Heritage Festival at Heritage Park in Slidell, featuring performances from artists like Soul Revival, Amanda Shaw with special guest Choppa, and Zebra. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., with fireworks scheduled for 9 p.m.. Admission is $15 for attendees aged 13 and older, while those 12 and under can enter for free.
At Bogue Falaya Park in Covington, the Sparks in the Park event will take place at the same time, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.. This family-friendly gathering will include a hot dog eating contest, face painting, kids’ activities, DJ music, and food vendors selling apple pies and jellies. The fireworks here will commence at dusk, and admission is free.
On Monday, July 3, the Uncle Sam Jam at Lafreniere Park in Metairie opens its gates at 2 p.m., featuring headliner Bret Michaels alongside Amanda Shaw and Starship. Fireworks will enhance the conclusion of this free event. Not far away, the Happy 3rd of July program at New Orleans City Park will start at 6 p.m.. Attendees can expect national anthems and a patriotic program featuring the Marine Forces Reserve Band, followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. Admission is also free for this event.
In Mandeville, the Light Up the Lake Independence Day Celebration will invite visitors from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with activities like a kids’ tent and live music by Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. Fireworks begin at 8:30 p.m., and admission remains free.
Chalmette will host its own event, St. Bernard Salutes America, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center Grounds. Guests can enjoy live music by Jason Dorsey and Louisiana Spice, local food and drinks, and a fireworks display at 9:15 p.m.. Meanwhile, Pearl River will have its July 4th Celebration with a variety of contests and activities, kicking off at 6 p.m. and featuring fireworks at dusk.
Those in St. John Parish can celebrate at both St. Peter Catholic Church in Reserve and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard, where fireworks over the Mississippi River will illuminate the sky at 9 p.m.
The festivities culminate on Tuesday, July 4, with the prestigious Go 4th on the River fireworks show at the New Orleans Riverfront starting at 9 p.m.. This highly anticipated display will be choreographed to patriotic music, accompanied by a water show from the General Roy S. Kelley fireboat at 7 p.m.
The Olde Towne Slidell Fourth of July Celebration takes place from noon to 9 p.m. in Olde Towne Slidell, showcasing food vendors, kids’ activities, and live music leading up to the fireworks finale.
In Madisonville, the Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration will span from 10 a.m. to dusk, featuring a veterans’ salute before the fireworks are lit at night. The event is free, ensuring a celebratory vibe for the whole community.
Finally, Abita Springs will hold a Fourth of July Celebration of Community on July 4 from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Trailhead Park, offering a car show, food vendors, and excitement for families, leading up to a fireworks display at 9 p.m.
