The Ogden Museum aims to honor four outstanding artists each year with grants and awards, acknowledging their contributions to the local arts scene. The Helis Foundation Art Prize will provide the lead award recipient with an unrestricted grant of $5,000, demonstrating a commitment to supporting local talent.
The awards will be presented at a private reception for the artists on August 1, prior to the public announcement on the opening day of the exhibition. According to Amy Newell, director of exhibitions at the Ogden Museum, 35 of the selected artists will be new to the exhibition, while 15 have participated in previous events. This diversity of experience highlights the evolving nature of artistic expression in the region.
Louisiana Contemporary is made possible through the support of presenting sponsor The Helis Foundation, with additional programming planned for the 2025 edition. This exhibition promises to continue its legacy of celebrating the rich artistic contributions of Louisiana, fostering connections between artists and audiences both locally and internationally.
